HW News
It is 2017, and HealingWoman, begun in 2010, has grown. This year I will update the website to reflect the real-world activities I do, as well as make the blog library easier to navigate, making clear what is literary essay, what relates to health advocacy and medical articles for consumers, and what represents news or real-world activity.
I also invite others who would like to be heard to submit pieces as a guest author. There is no charge and copyright remains yours.
Can I help you? Let me know.

Essay. An Afternoon Through Teddy’s Eyes.
This is the anniversary of a freak Spring blizzard, when over two feet of lovely white stuff suddenly covered the yard and buried shrubs. It started as a gift day, a Monday where no one went to work. I enjoyed … Continue reading
Essay. Count Your Blessings.
My parents and my grandmother often said “Count your blessings” when we were little. It would have been more effective advice if they hadn’t said it at times I felt particularly unblessed, such as the time I went to a … Continue reading

Essay. A Morning at Sudden Pond.
Although we still have more than two feet of snow cover, Spring is coming to New England. I found the evidence that Spring always comes, regardless of the length or depth of Winter, in an essay written five years ago…. … Continue reading

Essay. Kindness.
There is a saying that no act of kindness is wasted. In a discussion, a number of friends thought the saying means that even if there is no result, no recognition or response in another person, an act of kindness … Continue reading
Essay. What Lies Beneath the Stone.
I have read that Michelangelo would spend hours walking around a quarry, gazing at each individual block of marble to see what was within it. If he decided the statue he wanted was there, waiting to be uncovered, he bought … Continue reading
