HW News
It is 2017, and HealingWoman, begun in 2010, has grown. This year I will update the website to reflect the real-world activities I do, as well as make the blog library easier to navigate, making clear what is literary essay, what relates to health advocacy and medical articles for consumers, and what represents news or real-world activity.
I also invite others who would like to be heard to submit pieces as a guest author. There is no charge and copyright remains yours.
Can I help you? Let me know.

Essay. The Storm.
Twenty years ago, there was a blizzard on April first, with snow that came over my knees. This year, on the anniversary, there was a smaller storm. My life is captured in the brackets. Then, we thought we knew what … Continue reading
Essay. Peter Pan, Christopher Columbus, and the Three Sisters. A Lesson of Autism
My son is 21. Joseph, like Peter Pan, will grow older but not grow up. Our family lives in Neverland because of Joseph’s autism. He can name the planets in our solar system, but it is meaningless to him. The … Continue reading

Essay. My Life in Pets III. An Afternoon through Teddy’s Eyes.
Spring colors are here, the yellow of daffodils, cream and pink blossoms on shrubs and trees, a thousand shades of green. One year April brought a blizzard, and over two feet of powdery white stuff covered the yard and buried … Continue reading

Essay. Family.
Some family members love us. Others do not know us well, if at all. Some greet new things with curiosity, others reserve or anxiety. I am talking about my family. Yours. Humankind. In a classic of science fiction, “The Lathe … Continue reading
